SUMMER ON A BUDGET? OVO boosts the government’s Great British Summer Savings with free weekly electricity and perks for family days out

• As the government’s VAT cuts on summer attractions go live today, Thursday 25 June, OVO has a number of great offers to help households save both indoors and outdoors.
• OVO Beyond members can claim two hours of free electricity every single week until Sunday 2 August, alongside exclusive discounts of up to 40% with partner brands.
• To date, OVO Beyond customers have banked a total of 35.5 million electric vehicle (EV) miles and 156,000 solar panels, and unlocked 1.5 million hours of free electricity and ~157 million hours of free heat pump heating.

London, Thursday 25 June – To complement the government’s “Great British Summer Savings” scheme launching today, Thursday 25 June, OVO is reminding households of the simple ways they can make savings this summer. While the Chancellor’s initiative slashes VAT on outdoor activities like cinema tickets, theme parks, and meals out, OVO is helping families stretch their budgets both inside and outside the home during a jam-packed summer of sport, music, and family activities.

Through OVO’s loyalty programme, OVO Beyond, members can claim two hours of free electricity every week until Sunday 2 August. Members can simply opt in weekly via the OVO app and select the time slots that best fit their schedule. Whether it’s powering the TV for a major football or tennis watch party, keeping the lights and speakers running during a late-night BBQ, or keeping the fans blowing during a heatwave, OVO Beyond members can now enjoy the summer’s unmissable highlights free of charge.

To lock in longer-term and more sustainable savings, OVO Beyond customers can also bank 2,400 free EV miles and up to 5 free solar panels through the loyalty programme. To date, OVO Beyond customers have banked a total of 35.5 million EV miles and 156,000 solar panels, and unlocked 1.5 million hours of free electricity and ~157 million hours of free heat pump heating. 

But the savings do not end there. To help families stretch their budgets wherever they are this summer, OVO is reminding OVO Beyond customers how they can unlock further savings inside and outside the home, with other standout offers including:

Savings at home

• Home upgrades and deliveries: Get a free annual boiler service through OVO, and access exclusive discounts of up to 40% with partner brands including Oddbox, grüum, Bloom & Wild and tado°. OVO Beyond customers can also enter a prize draw to win a Smart TV worth up to £600, ending Sunday 12 July at 23:59 pm.

Savings outside the home

• Summer travel savings: Save 5% off trains and ferries with partner brand Omio.
• Music perks: Gain exclusive access to tickets for gigs at the OVO Hydro, The O2 arena and Co-op Live through OVO Live, plus regular giveaways available exclusively to Beyond customers. OVO’s VIP for Less offering also unlocks exclusive rates on tickets for shows at The O2 for all customers, giving access to premium tickets without the premium price tag.
