As part of Warm Welcome Week, OVO is hosting a series of events to offer communities a warm and welcoming space in which they can receive free energy-saving advice and products. The events will be open to everyone, regardless of whether they’re an OVO customer or not.
Beginning on the 19th January 2026, the community events will take place in the following locations:
Residents will be able to speak to experts about simple tips to reduce their energy consumption, and if eligible will be able to receive free electric blankets, energy efficient light bulbs and solar battery banks, which could save families up to £360 per year. A range of charities will also be in attendance, including StepChange, Samaritans, BITC, and Citizens Advice, who will be on hand to provide debt advice for anyone struggling with financial hardship.
The initiative has been launched by energy provider OVO in response to the cost-of-living crisis and in partnership with the Warm Welcome charity, which aims to bring communities together at the coldest time of year.
According to the Warm Welcome Campaign, 70% of people agree that Warm Spaces could help them and others in their community cope with high costs. The survey also found that 26% of people have visited a Warm Space in their community at least once in the last 12 months.
These events will be OVO’s latest step to support households, as part of its ongoing £56 million Extra Support Package.
Steven Donovan, Customer Vulnerability Lead, at OVO, said:
“Warm Welcome Week is an incredibly important initiative that supports families across the UK during one of the most difficult times of year. It’s more than just providing a warm space; it’s about making genuine human connections and providing additional support that people may not have known about. OVO wholeheartedly supports its mission, and continues to call on the government to implement a social tariff to protect those who cannot afford to heat their homes through the sustained period of high prices to come.”
David Barclay, Warm Welcome Campaign Director, says:
“Demand for Warm Welcome Spaces is always high in January. It’s the darkest and often coldest time of year, with too many people feeling lonely or having to make the awful choice between heating and eating. OVO’s generous support is vital, raising awareness, connecting communities, and doing everything they can to support people struggling with energy bills.”
“We don’t want anyone to feel cold or alone this winter. That’s why we’re asking everyone to join us in Warm Welcome Week to raise awareness so more people can find a place of belonging and connection close to home, and by encouraging more community spaces to become Warm Welcome Spaces.”
Support for households from OVO
OVO has provided £190m in support since 2022, offering measures such as heated blankets, smart sockets, and efficiency kits, and assisted 29,000 customers this winter already.

About Warm Welcome Campaign
The Warm Welcome Campaign has a bold ambition to enable a more deeply connected society where we all have free access to welcoming community spaces. We resource, connect and champion a network of more than 6,000 Warm Welcome Spaces and bring together a growing coalition of local, regional, and national partners representing the worlds of charity, faith, business, government, and philanthropy. By working together, we can unlock the power of community spaces made by and for everyone, creating a thriving network of hope and reconnection fuelled by human warmth.
The Warm Welcome Campaign wants to grow the network of Warm Welcome Spaces across the UK, so everyone has the opportunity to visit a local space and reconnect with their community. We want everyone to find a local Warm Welcome Spaces within a 30-minute walk from their home. We help local spaces to thrive by making sure they have the resources, support, and funding to be strong, sustainable, accessible and inclusive community places.
