London, Wednesday 24 June: As temperatures reach record highs across the UK this week and meteorologists warn of unprecedented extreme weather alerts, OVO has announced its official entry into the home air conditioning market, bringing professional-grade cooling and heating to British homes for the first time.
The launch of OVO Solar & Heating’s nationwide air conditioning service establishes OVO as one of the only major UK energy suppliers offering solar panels, batteries, heat pumps, and air conditioning under one roof, meaning a customers’ entire home energy system can be designed, installed, and managed by a single trusted provider, ensuring maximum efficiency and faster paybacks. Any household can enquire and install through OVO Solar & Heating, irrespective of their energy supplier.
The expansion comes as the UK faces a rapidly escalating need for home cooling, with the Climate Change Committee (CCC) recently warning that in future climate conditions of 2°C global warming, air conditioning will become essential for 22% of UK homes to adapt to rising temperatures1. Consumer demand is also soaring, with recent data reported by The Guardian indicating that domestic air conditioning ownership has doubled to over 4 million homes in the last three years alone2.
The air conditioning system – installed by fully vetted, F-Gas certified engineers – maximises home energy efficiency. By utilising highly efficient, modern reverse-cycle technology, the system both cools in the summer and heats in the winter, bringing year-round home comfort to British households, not just a seasonal fix. By pairing the system with OVO’s home solar panels and a battery, households can power their climate control systems using self-generated, clean electricity during peak daylight hours.
The system consists of an indoor wall-mounted unit and an outdoor condenser unit, which is professionally designed, surveyed, and installed end-to-end by OVO Solar & Heating’s exclusive regional partner network. Each installation process begins with a no-obligation home survey to assess each property’s specific requirements.
Ed Janvrin, Director of OVO Solar & Heating, commented:
“As extreme heatwaves become a reality for UK households, home air conditioning is becoming more desirable for many. We are proud to be helping households get through the seasons more comfortably with OVO Solar & Heating’s new air conditioning system offering, which uses reverse-cycle technology to both cool and heat homes, providing a reliable, year-round comfort solution ”.
Available to any UK household, irrespective of their energy supplier. To learn more and enquire, please visit the dedicated OVO Solar & Heating air conditioning page.
