  • OVO’s new EV charging plans mean drivers can cover their monthly home and public charging needs for just £27.50 per month – less than half the price of a tank of petrol1
  • Research from OVO reveals half of Brits (49%) want to go electric for their next car, yet 79% of current EV drivers want charging to be simplified
  • OVO’s new monthly plans make home and public charging more simple and predictable than ever before

24th September 2025, London OVO is launching Charge Anytime monthly plans, the UK’s first EV charging subscription that gives drivers a single fixed price for charging both at home and on the go.

There are two monthly plans to choose from and both include smart charging at home and public charging vouchers, which can be used across more than 400,000 chargers throughout the UK and Europe.

News of the launch comes as research2 from OVO shows that half of Brits (49%) want to go electric for their next car. Three fifths (61%) said they are more likely to opt for an EV than they were five years ago, and two fifths (42%) said that saving money on fuel is a reason they’d consider making the switch.

But OVO’s research found eight in ten current EV drivers (79%) said charging needs to be simplified3. They face a huge difference between home and public charging costs, complicated tech setups and confusing unit rates. OVO’s new plans will make charging more simple and predictable than ever before, for one fixed monthly cost that’s less than half the price of a tank of petrol1.

The Standard monthly plan is just £27.50 a month – saving EV drivers over £340 per year4 – for:

  • 700 miles5 of smart charging at home per month (8,400 miles per year)
  • Public charging vouchers6 that can be used throughout the UK and Europe
  • EV charger insurance cover against accidental damage, theft and vandalism

At £27.50, OVO’s Standard monthly plan is less than a third of the average monthly car fuel cost for petrol or diesel cars (£91.67 per month7) in the UK.

And the Premium monthly plan is £37.50 a month – saving EV drivers up to £460 per year8 – and offering:

  • 1,000 miles5 of smart charging at home per month (12,000 miles per year)
  • Public charging vouchers6 that can be used throughout the UK and Europe
  • EV charger insurance cover against accidental damage, theft and vandalism
  • A free annual battery health check and deep EV insights from ClearWatt
  • 15% discount on KwikFit Club tyres

With no long-term contract, drivers can switch plans depending on their needs, and there are multi-car options for households with multiple EVs.

Alex Thwaites, Director of EV at OVO, said: “We need to make EVs the easy choice for drivers. This means making them super affordable to run and simple to charge. Charge Anytime monthly plans offer the best of both worlds – the flexibility to charge anytime, from anywhere, with the confidence of knowing exactly what you’ll pay each month.”

Since launching Charge Anytime, OVO customers have saved over £25 million on their EV charging, and helped make smarter use of the UK’s electricity grid by charging when demand is low and there is more green energy on the grid.

For customers with lighter mileage, there will be a Charge Anytime pay as you go option, offering EV drivers discounted charging rates of 14p/kWh.

OVO’s Charge Anytime monthly plans will launch on 4th November 2025 and OVO customers can sign up from today, here

  4. The £343 saving is based on a Charge Anytime customer signing up to a standard monthly plan and using 8,400 miles a year of home charging and 600 miles on the road using public charging networks compared to a customer charging their home miles at OVO’s UK average SVT rate of 26.34p per kWh and their public miles at an average Charge Point Operator rate of 80p per kWh.
  5. Mileage is calculated at a vehicle efficiency of 4 miles per kWh. Actual mileage achieved may vary depending on vehicle efficiency and driving style.
  6. Public charging vouchers are worth £120 per year and can be used at any time throughout the course of the year. OVO’s research shows a typical EV driver that can charge at home uses public charging around 5 times a year using 30 kWhs per charge, at the average rapid charging rate of 80p per kWh this £120 public charging vouchers would cover all of a typical EV driver’s public charging yearly costs.
  7. Nimblefins: For the typical car owner, car fuel costs average out around £1,100 a year.
  8. The £460 saving is based on a Charge Anytime customer signing up to the Premium Monthly Plan and using 12,000 miles a year of home charging and 600 miles on the road using public charging networks compared to a customer charging their home miles at OVO’s UK average SVT rate of 26.34p per kWh and their public miles at an average Charge Point Operator rate of 80p per kWh.
